Located in Fairmont, WV, I am a mental health provider who is focused on helping clients transform and feel whole again.
I specialize in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
I am located in Central West Virginia and offer in person and tele-health mental health services to adults, children, adolescents, families, and couples.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is a powerful treatment modality that is used to treat anxiety, depression, stress and trauma. In reality, there is no diagnosis that is a rule-out for EMDR.
EMDR is an entire theoretical orientation based in neuro-science and neuro-psychology. It is an evidence based practice that has tons of research supporting its effectiveness.
Who benefits from EMDR therapy?
Children, teens, and adults can benefit from EMDR therapy. I use it for online and in person sessions to treat:
Trauma/PTSD
Anxiety
Depression
Grief/loss
Self esteem issues
Guilt
Anger and irritability
OCD
Performance Concerns
Children deserve to receive the benefits of EMDR therapy too. We offer EMDR services for children and adolescents to treat anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma. We also use EMDR to help resource children with skills that support and enhance their ability to face their daily activities.
We also offer TF-CBT for children who have had a traumatic experience or several traumatic experiences such as grief and loss, abuse, neglect, placement in foster care, sexual abuse, bullying, and more.
TF-CBT stands for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is considered to be the gold standard for treating trauma in children ages 3 to 18.
PCIT stands for Parent Child Interaction Therapy. PCIT is a powerful treatment modality used to give parents the tools they need to deal with overwhelming behaviors in their children, and gives children the support they need to overcome these challenging behaviors. PCIT is an internationally accredited therapy, headed by PCIT International. PCIT has been taught and implemented on every major continent in the world, with practitioners who are trained PCIT clinicians. We have had the honor of being trained by one of the leading researchers and developers of PCIT.

What is mindsight? Mindsight is your awareness and ability to focus on your internal world in a way that intentionally allows you to rewire your brain so you can heal your relationships, master your emotions, and live a life that is full. Dr. Siegel is a Harvard trained Psychiatrist who has written numerous books and best sellers. Anything by Dan Siegel is a great resource!
This book is an amazing read to read or to listen to! The audio book is read by the author and it is inspiring! Radiant Rest is about the practice of Yoga Nidra, a type yogic sleep. Yoga Nidra is also a great way to tone the vagus nerve, which plays a very important role in activation of the fight or flight response. When we have experienced stress, or trauma, our vagus nerve tends to be more reactive to what our brains and bodies perceive as threats. Radiant Rest is a book that offers great explanations of the benefits of Yoga Nidra, how to become a practitioner of Yoga Nidra, as well as scripts for practice. There is a link to audio for the scripts that come with the book. Tracee Stanley also has an amazing Podcast called Radiant Rest. This is a must have resource for anyone on their healing journey.
Dr. Richard Schwartz developed Internal Family Systems Therapy in the 1980s to treat eating disorders. What he learned by listening to his clients was groundbreaking. We are all “parts.” All of us are made up of different parts of ourselves with different personalities, desires, jobs, experiences, and opinions. These parts of us help us throughout our lives to navigate in a way that always protects “Self.” Self is not a part, but our essence, our mindfulness, the space that opens up, or our core. Through parts work we learn to get to know the parts of ourselves, and how they are helping to protect the whole system. We also learn how to access self, the true leader of our system, to restore balance, and wholeness through compassion, curiosity, creativity, clarity, connection, calm, courage, and confidence. We are all multiple personalities, and that’s a good thing!
